On November 27, 2023, writer Alyssa Wong revealed that the issue would be the final issue of the series.[5] Wong recalled pouring their heart out into the issue[6] and is very proud of it.[4] Furthermore, they promised fans would not want to miss the issue.[3] Like issue 39,[7] they promised the issue was suprising even to them.[6]
