So, this template has bugged me for a while. Functionally, it's like the old {{TOR}} template, which was deleted in 2021 - it serves only to add an image to the listing and also double-link back to Star Wars Galaxies as well as the expac. However, per Wookieepedia:Sourcing#Citation templates: Citation templates may not be used or created simply to adorn the name of a source with a logo.

Plus, we should treat the Galaxies expansions like we do TOR's expansions (and every other MMO) - they are separate iterations of the game, and should be listed separately. It's unclear at the moment if we don't do that at the moment, but it's something to look into.

• Hi, it will be a big change for me but I don't disagree with Cade's statement. But I will have to check a few things before you delete everything. There are currently 8 different uses of the SWG template. For the moment, it will be better to keep the {{SWG|An Empire Divided}}. You can already bot-replace the 7 others ({{SWG|Jump to Lightspeed}}, {{SWG|Rage of the Wookiees}}, {{SWG|The Total Experience}}, {{SWG|Trials of Obi-Wan}}, {{SWG|Starter Kit}}, {{SWG|The Complete Online Adventures}}, {{SWG|The Ruins of Dantooine}}).   • Don't worry, with the Source Engine project I've had a great deal of experience finding all of the distinct usages. I won't be bot-replacing anything til the TC concludes though. Cade Calrayn 19:43, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
• I would like to point out, the template wasn't created to simply to adorn the name of a source with a logo. The logo was added later to make the template more visually appealing. And I don't see why this template needs to be deleted. Couldn't one of our template master's edit and augment the template to display the logo for the expansion cited in the template? So keep the current logo for An Empire Divided. Have it display File:SWGJTL logo.jpg if that expansion is entered, etc. I can't think of why The Total Experience would ever need to be used because it's just a compilation and not a unique expansion. It would be easy enough to crop logo images for each of the expansions we don't already have. Why delete the template and instead improve/augment it to incorporate all of the separate iterations of the game. The logos make it more visually appealing and i don't think deleting the template is the way to go. - JMAS ^{Hey, it's me!} 17:03, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
  • The problem is that our sourcing policy explicitly forbids having templates that are there just to make it visually appealing. So this template is actually in violation of that policy. In order to keep this template, we'd have to amend the policy. Cade Calrayn 19:42, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
