Sir, I noticed earlier the hyperdrive motivator has been damaged. It's impossible to go to lightspeed!C-3PO, to Han Solo
The hyperdrive motivator, also known as the Hyperdrive Control Unit, was the primary lightspeed thrust initiator in any hyperdrive engine system.[1] It was connected to a vessel's main computer system to monitor and collect sensor and navigation data in order to determine jump thrusts, adjust engine performance in hyperspace, and calibrate safe returns to normal space. It was shielded in a superconducting type of shield.[3]
Incom Corporation's T-65 X-wing starfighter utilized four GBk-585 hyperdrive units, one located in each engine. The motivators were wired together with dual shielded circuit and were synched to fire simultaneously.[1]
Components of the motivator included a sensor package and a power breaker.
Failure of some components like the above, might result to false propulsion readings; in turn that would result to fatal miscalculations of hyperspace jumps as they took into account the ship's speed.[4]
