A marsh-lord was a political title held by individuals on the swamp planet Safrifa by the time of the High Republic Era.[1] In 231 BBY,[2] a rival clan kidnapped the son of one of Safrifa's marsh-lords. The marsh-lord hired the mercenary Ty Yorrick for an extraction operation, offering to pay her in novian ore for the safe return of their kin to their clan. After a bloody and chaotic confrontation, Yorrick successfully returned the leader's son to them, and they gave her their novian ore payment. The mercenary then left to return to her ship and later contemplated the operation she had completed for the marsh-lord.[1]
Behind the scenes
The title of marsh-lord was mentioned in the novel The High Republic: The Rising Storm, written by Cavan Scott[1] for the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase I and published on June 29, 2021.[3] Prior to its release, the title's mention was included in a StarWars.com preview for the novel on April 22 of that year.[4]
