The job is mostly research into precedent and history. I'm not the one who says "how about a dog that plays basketball?" I'm one of a team that says "there's nothing in the rulebook that says a dog can't play basketball."Pablo Hidalgo on his role as Lore Advisor
Pablo Hidalgo is an author at Lucasfilm. He has been identified as a Senior Creative Executive Franchise Story figure[2] and member of the Lucasfilm Story Group.[6] He was often referred to as the Star Wars Lore Advisor by the time of the release of Obi-Wan Kenobi.[4]

Biography
I'm just a Clippy that appears at the bottom of a script in progress. "It looks like you're trying to mention an Outer Rim planet... would you like some help?"Pablo Hidalgo on his role as Lore Advisor
Pablo Hidalgo is known for his creation of material ranging from West End Games role-playing game (RPG) resources to content for StarWars.com, where he went under the screen name of Pabawan. He is also a founding member of the Star Wars Fanboy Association. He served as Internet Content Manager for Lucas Online until 2011, and also worked as a comics writer on StarWars.com. Until January 2000, Hidalgo wrote and managed the Star Wars Index at echostation.com, when he abandoned the project to work for Lucasfilm. The site included some of his original Star Wars artwork.[9]
He had a cameo playing Janu Godalhi (an anagram of Pablo's real-life father, Juan Hidalgo) in Revenge of the Sith and was also referenced with the character Palob Godalhi. After The Walt Disney Company acquired Lucasfilm, Hidalgo was assigned a job within the[10] still newly formed[11] Lucasfilm Story Group, a small group of Star Wars experts whose main purpose is to create and maintain one cohesive canon, thereby eliminating the previous hierarchical canon.[10] Hidalgo was also[3] a creative executive in story development at Lucasfilm, as well as one of the members of the Intellectual Property Development Group.[10] He is well known for writing the reference books that accompany the release of new movies.
Hidalgo served as the Star Wars lore advisor for the Obi-Wan Kenobi television series.[4] During the writing process, writer Joby Harold thought of having Obi-Wan Kenobi learn that Anakin Skywalker survived their duel on Mustafar to get the series to a place of intense drama for Kenobi. He first had to ask Hidalgo how much Kenobi knows during the show's time period, and Harold was given permission to use the scene.[12] Hidalgo provided many resources for propmaster Brad Elliott and his team.[13] Hidalgo and Elliott discussed the look of wupiupi coins and their proper conversion rate with truguts and credits. This allowed the two to figure out the cost of some common goods in Star Wars and a minimum wage for the whale-carving station that Obi-Wan Kenobi worked at. It was decided that a full shift paid one trugut and three wupiupi.[14]
