During the Timaeus Project, the humans and Cybertronians of BT World produced the blueprints for a Critias Gate, but the blueprints were never put into use and were thereafter forgotten.
The Planicrons of the two-dimensional realm Flatworld, their realm's equivalent of the Transformers, attempted to evolve into a higher-dimensional existence by finding and passing through a diagram of a Critias Gate. Alternation Unfortunately at the time, they did not know which world the Critias Gate was on, and so their incursion into higher-dimensional space merely disrupted the operation of written language in Primax 905.0 Beta. The World Is Flat! Later, after the Megatron Aggregate had penetrated Flatworld, the Alternity's ally Vector Prime guided the Planicrons to Mackay Stadium in Nevada on BT World Earth, where the blueprints for the Critias Gate, rediscovered by Optimus Primal and Grimlock, were projected onto a giant screen. The Planicrons passed through it, briefly pausing to repel an attack by the "Megatherion" and destroy the Megatron Aggregate, and thus evolved into higher-dimensional lifeforms and taking the Alternity's place as the guardians of space and time. Ask Vector Prime
The dial on Vector Prime's chest was a Critias Gateway. He'd ask You very kindly to not touch it, lest you be thrown through space and time. Ask Vector Prime, 2015/05/15
When Vec-Tor transited realities, his Critias Gateway glowed. Echoes and Fragments
Notes
- The name is a reference to Kritias (Κριτίας), one of the dialogues of Plato, more commonly known in English by its Latinized spelling "Critias". Kritias is often paired up with Timaios, which provides the name of the Timaeus drive.
