Firebreath Cyclocannons

The Firebreath Cyclocannons are a weapon from the Prime portion of the Aligned continuity family.

This isn't the first time an Optimus was powered by dragons.

The Firebreath Cyclocannons are an ancient, powerful weapon. Powered by the spirits of ancient, honorable dragons, the cannons shoot fire-bolts from their dragon heads, bolts hotter than any known sun. It also sends power to the wearer's sword and shield, giving them increased offensive and defensive power. Worn by Optimus Prime, the Firebreath Cyclocannons can only spell victory for the Autobots in the face of the Predacon threat.

They are sometimes called the Dragon Cannons.

Tales of the Beast Hunters

After they were retrieved from an ancient starship, Tales of the Beast Hunters Chapter 6 Optimus Prime donned the Firebreath Cyclocannons in the hopes of defeating Predaking, despite the fact that the cannons were still inert. Just as Predaking encountered Optimus, Ratchet figured out how to activate them, and both Optimus and the cannons surged with energy. Full of Fire!

Ratchet built the Dragon Cannons as one of a number of new Beast Hunter weapons. Optimus got the chance to test them in battle against Predaking when a group of Predacons attacked the Autobots in New Mexico. He found the weapon more than a match for Predaking's flame, and the Predacons were sent packing. Full of Fire!

Part of the first wave of Prime: Beast Hunters Ultimate Class toys, Beast Hunter Optimus Prime is larger than the average Weaponizer or Leader Class toy, and comes with the "Firebreath Cyclocannons"—spring-loaded dragon-headed missile launchers mounted on an ornate, rotating circular contraption attached to his back/roof. Turning the handle on top makes the backpack rotate and cycle through each cannon, and pressing the handle's button will trigger and fire whatever cannon is at the top/front. When the cannons are cycled through in robot mode, his eyes and windshield-chest light up, and one can alternatively rotate (but not fire) the cannons and activate his light-up features by pushing down on the fake spiky fenders on his stomach. Out of the package, the handle itself comes detached to allow the rest of the toy to fit. Both the missiles and dragon heads are uniquely sculpted—no two are alike.

His stock photography depicts his three green missiles as translucent, when they are opaque in the final product. This toy was originally announced at UK Toy Fair 2013 as "Dragon Disc Optimus Prime".

This version of Ultimate Class Beast Hunter Optimus Prime is exclusive to Cybertron Con 2013. While Prime himself is unchanged, he has been packaged in the box with his backpack plugged into his back, allowing the cannons to rotate when his spiky stomach-fenders are pushed down.
