She doesn't need thirty-seven pieces to express herself

Flareup (also Flare-Up) loves her job, and does it with a cheerfulness and zeal matched by few of her Autobot comrades. Her task in the Autobot army is to blow things up, and thus her disposition is often considered by her comrades to be a little off-putting. More seriously, she tends to enjoy herself so much that she gets careless, and more than once, her colleague Chromia has had to pull her, quite literally, out of the fire.

Descent into Evil

Flareup originally trained in search and rescue under Firestar, but after it became clear she was better suited to more offense-oriented tasks, Firestar placed her in the care of her friend Chromia.[1]

Flareup was part of an Autobot strike force sent to Ceti Alpha Seven to destroy a cloning installation set up by the Decepticon general Deathsaurus. She and Chromia had previously beaten Buzzclaw, one of Deathsaurus' warriors, on Regulon Four, so she expected an easy fight. Unfortunately for the Autobots, the first batch of Deathsaurus' Virulent Clones was already finished, and the team came under heavy attack. Flareup put up a good fight, destroying several clones personally, but was defeated and captured when Deathsaurus himself entered the fray. She and the others were rescued by the timely arrival of Ironhide and Ratchet. Descent into Evil

At some point in time through some means, Flareup ended up at Axiom Nexus. She soon favoured the peaceful Nexus 208.0 Epsilon dimension over her war-torn own and chose to stay, finding a purpose there as police officer. She was on the job when she spotted a group of three Malgus visitors shortly after their arrival. Upon asking for their identities and finding out one of them was an Optimus, she exasperatedly pointed them at the big sign that stated Primes were strictly forbidden in the city and contacted the authorities. After identifying the yellow kid-appeal character as a Bumblebee and not caring who the human sidekick was, she announced to the three visitors she was going to take them to Processing and subsequently had to explain them where they were, what was going on. She also indulged in some grumbling over who in their right mind would design a robot with high heels.

When Shockwave later came to arrest Sari and Optimus, Flareup, having expected them to get away with just a fine, felt responsible and told Bumblebee they had to rescue his friends. At a drive-thru, they met with a Transformer named "Joe", who offered them help. Bumblebee came up with a plan of his own involving a trained chimp marching band, which ended with a triple trip to the car wash, but then "Joe" made a suggestion: To get past Shockwave's security system, he and Bumblebee would pretend to be illegal Primes who were being guarded by Flareup during a prisoner transfer.

The plan worked, and Flareup teamed up with Bumblebee to distract Shockwave, allowing "Joe" to take him out from behind. However, with Shockwave out, "Joe" seized Sari's AllSpark Key and revealed his true identity as Megatron. Flareup was exasperated once more that nobody read the sign and joined in an all-out attack on the offender. Megatron powered up by the AllSpark Key proved too much for them, and Flareup could only stare in worry as Megatron brought Shockwave's laboratory equipment to life to function as his army. Thanks to some quick thinking by the kid-appeal character and human sidekick, the Malgus visitors manipulated the newly formed army into turning against their creator. With the situation back under control, Shockwave agreed to let the Malgus visitors go and agreed with Flareup never to speak of these events again. Bee in the City

Following the Great Transformation, Flareup [sic] found herself stationed at the New Polyhex Training Academy, where she became a star pupil while training under the ancient and enigmatic _target Masters. After catching the attention of Alpha Trizer, Flareup became the youngest and newest member of the Cybertronian Knights. Her oddly cheerful disposition, given her specialty of firework, has served as an inspiration to her more jaded peers. Knight Flareup profile card Apelinq was sent to the Academy to meet her, encountering Primal Prime, who also hoped to recruit her into the Wreckers. However, Flareup declined in favor of the Knights, which Apelinq never doubted as her quarters' decorations clearly demonstrated her admiration for Knight Commander Ginrai. Apelinq's personal logs, 2015/01/07

Alongside the other Knights, Flareup was extremely chagrined to be called into headquarters for a mandatory meditation session with Alpha Trizer. What made the situation worse was that Ginrai invoked, "Ladies first." Flareup mentioned hearing that the last 'bots to go through meditation ended up offline, to which Devcon quipped that they were bored into stasis lock. However, Apelinq dismissed Devcon's quip as a mere rumor. Apelinq's personal logs, 2015/01/07

In 2984 C.E., Flare-Up [sic] and Apelinq were on a mission on Cyberion when they received a call from Knight Commander Ginrai to return to base. After Flare-Up arrived (and Ginrai tsked her for scuffing the floors with her tires), Ginrai announced that Devcon had reported that the Galadria Space Bridge Outpost in the Delta Prysmos Sector had gone missing, and that he feared the worst. Soon thereafter, Devcon sent another signal, and Flare-Up and the other Knights space-bridged to Devcon's position on board the disembodied head of Unicron, which had been commandeered by Cannonball and his Star Seekers. Flare-Up and Apelinq tackled Flamewar together, and when Flamewar disintegrated Apelinq's digitized hoverboard, Flare-Up laughed. Flamewar should have taken out Flare-Up instead, and Flare-Up proved this by putting down the massive Scorponok with her delfurite shells. As Devcon fought Flamewar herself, Flare-Up mused that the two would make a cute couple. The battle was prematurely ended when it was discovered that Cannonball's scheme to plunder Cybertron of its energon would not work now that it was technorganic. Hoist the Flag

Some time later, Flare-Up and Apelinq were standing in a burning ruin on Cybertron, unaware of Shokaract's plot to return to the planet and lay waste to it. Legacy

Flareup's Bizarre Adventure.

Flareup was a member of the Senate Guard. During Sentinel Prime's controversial Senate address, she provided extra security outside the building and later accompanied Senator Orion Pax to the Senate floor with Groove when Orion suspected something was amiss. However, when the newly-rebranded "Decepticons" dropped all pretenses and launched a full-on attack on the Senate, Ravage and the other infiltration troopers zapped her unconscious and took her prisoner. We Have Deceived You

The new Decepticon regime locked Flareup and the other members of the Senate Guard in an improvised holding cell, where they remained until Ironhide and the other members of the guard broke in to rescue them. After springing Sentinel and Orion from the next sublevel, Flareup and the others volunteered to sweep the building to find and rescue any other prisoners. Flareup and Brawn escorted Sentinel and Orion to safety; the impulsive Autobot leader had other ideas, however; when he flew off to address the planet, Flareup, Brawn, Chromia, and Orion followed on the ground, and only caught up with the First Senator after the Rainmakers shot him down over a nearby bar. Flareup watched as Orion Pax took the Matrix from Sentinel to become Optimus Prime, the next Autobot leader. Prime

Flareup and the Guard devoted themselves to protecting Optimus Prime after that. She was present when he made an expedition to the Forge Pyramid to speak with Perceptor. Titans Flareup and the renamed "Prime Guard" deployed with their leader to the Sea of Rust, where Termagax had possession of the Enigma of Combination. They set up defensive positions around Termagax's house as the Decepticons arrived for the Enigma as well. Sea of Rust II

Backstreet and Flareup attended to Optimus Prime at Crystal City as he prepared for Strika to lead her Decepticons in a siege. A Dust of Crystals In the final battle at Darkmount, the Autobots were joined by a new Combiner, Computron. When Devastator shattered the Technobots' combined form, Flareup and Groove rushed to aid the team leader, Scattershot. Containing an artificial Enigma of Combination in his spark, Scattershot needed volunteers to supplement Computron's power. The Prime Guard was ready to serve, and Javelin, Backstreet, and Pipes joined the first two in helping Scattershot forge an even more powerful Computron. They held the line against Devastator and the Decepticons, allowing Optimus Prime and the other Autobots to escape aboard the Ark. When Computron was finally brought down by the united Decepticon army, the Prime Guard and Technobots became Megatron's prisoners. Fate of Cybertron

  • Flareup was originally conceived as a new body for Firestar, but Hasbro was unable to secure the trademark on the name, so she became a new-character protégée.[2] In 2018, the name trademark was still out of Hasbro's reach, leading them to release a new Firestar figure under the name "Novastar" rather than reuse "Flareup".
