- Released as part of the _target-exclusive Buzzworthy Bumblebee line, Rise of the Beasts Sandspear transforms from a robotic scorpion into a blade that Scorponok can wield. Sandspear's little claws have 5mm ports for wielding more accessories.
- While box renders and most stock photos show Sandspear's blade deployed like a stinger in beast mode, the instructions specify it should be folded down. The renders also show the stinger being cast in the same gray as the claws, and lack the gunmetal paint the final toy has.
- The TakaraTomy release is a Toys"R"Us exclusive, and uses Rise of the Beasts style packaging.
