Slugfest scattered after Wheeljack's disastrous attack on Optimus Prime. Cliffjumper and Sideswipe tracked him down in an effort to keep the Dinobots out of the Autobots' hands. After a brief battle with Goryu, who was protecting Slugfest, the Decepticons added both Dinobots to their roster via restraining bolts and brain upgrades.
Slugfest was pleased with his new masters, but was relieved when Grimlock arrived to escort the captured Dinobots to a secret place. Dungeons & Dinobots
Starscream was worried when he didn't find Slugfest and Overkill in the Dinocon pens where they should have been. After a few moments of frantic searching, he discovered two octaltrack data cartridges. Starscream was taken aback when the cartridges transformed into the missing Dinocons. Upon further examination, Starscream and Bombshell discovered that all of the captured-and-reprogrammed Dinobots suddenly had embers and the ability to transform.
Soundwave took Slugfest and Overkill along with his usual complement of Recordicons when he boarded the Nemesis. Do Over
They eventually made their way to the Earth of another dimension. There, they were tasked with repairing the planet's electronics network, which had gotten ravaged in its journey to the Decepticons' native universe. Despite Slugfest's most earnest attempts to help in the procedure, he only managed to make the task more difficult for Soundwave. The group then came under attack from Blaster and his own menagerie of cassettes. Slugfest held his own against Ramhorn until another new arrival, Solarbot forced Blaster to retreat with a brilliant display of power. Solar Requiem
Hey, get this, Slugfest thought the six Ember-less bots Solarbot was looking for were cyborg alien invaders, what a putz! He was also barred from the Dancitron dance club, as the maître d' "drew the line" at stegosauruses. Sunrise

Notes
- Slugfest is modeled on the original Slugfest toy, but perhaps with Grand Slam's colors. Overkill, however, is not depicted in tandem with Raindance's colors.
- Slugfest's appearance in Recordicons is, of course, based on Robin as a foil to Ratbat's Batman.
- After obtaining an ember in "Do Over", Slugfest goes from G1 Dinobot-style "caveman speak" to speaking normally. Subsequent appearances would ignore this, reverting him to Dinobot-style speech.
