Transformers 4 Chinese Actors Talent Search Reality Show (《变形金刚4》中国演员招募活动) is a reality TV show which screened in China on China Movie Channel AKA CCTV6 to pick four Chinese actors to take part in Age of Extinction. The four parts were won by Byron Li, Candice Zhao, Teresa Daley and Austin Lin. It was co-produced by Paramount Pictures, Jiaflix and China Movie Channel.

• Sid Ganis, chairman of Jiaflix Enterprises and former president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
• Lindsey Bayman, senior vice president of the Business Affairs Department at Paramount Pictures.
• Megan Colligan, president of Marketing and Distribution at Paramount Pictures.
• Liang Longfei, vice president of M1905.com, official website of the China Movie Channel.

Selection process

A launching ceremony was held on April 18 at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. Contestants signed up via the show's official web site for one of four parts, designated as "Kung Fu fighter", "sexy goddess", "cute loli" and "computer geek". The online registration period ran from April 18 to June 30 (later extended to July 15), during which each hopeful had to upload video responses to questions posed by Michael Bay, and be voted on by the judges and the general public. The top 100 entrants—25 for each available role—were then successfully entered into the show.^[2]

Over the course of the series the contestants were whittled down from a starting number of 100 to 40, then to 12, then to 4, by a panel of five judges. Contestants were required to demonstrate their acting ability, as well as put on a variety performance. Songs performed included Michael Jackson's Dangerous and the Spice Girls' Wanna Be, and one contestant even put on an Alice in Wonderland themed magic show.^[3]

  • Computer geek: Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Kick-Ass, Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man, and Anthony Anderson in Transformers.
