Biography |
Agira[1] is a ceratopsian dinosaur-like Kaiju from episodes 32 and 46 of Ultraseven as one of the titular Ultra's Capsule Kaiju.
Subtitles:
- Original: Capsule Monster
- Decker: Dimension Card Monster
History
Ultraseven
Agira made his debut appearance fighting against the monster Rigger, as Dan could not transform at the time and the UG could not damage him. Agira managed to do well against the monster for the first half of the battle, but Rigger's tail proved to be too much for Agira to handle. As a result, Dan called Agira back before anymore harm could be done and went on to defeat Rigger himself as Ultraseven. The Strolling Planet
Agira was used again against the Alien Salome's weapon, the Imit-Ultraseven. However, there was nothing much that Agira could do against the copy of his master. Agira was easily beaten down by Imit-Ultraseven, who beat him down and hurled the monster into a valley where he eventually returned to his capsule, defeated. Since then, Agira would be greatly remembered by Ultraseven as a heroic monster. The Showdown of Dan vs Seven
Trivia
- Agira had two different roars in both of his appearances. His first roar (episode 32) was a slightly sped-up roar of the Toho Monster, Rodan, while his second roar (episode 46) was a sped-up Zumbolar roar. Although Mega Monster Battle Ultra Galaxy: The Movie reused Agira's second roar, later media kept his original roar back.
- Originally, Windom was supposed to fight Rigger (whom also originally was intended to be Pagos), but Tsuburaya instead wanted to introduce a new Capsule Monster in hopes of improving the show's ratings at the time.
- In the middle-to-late 1990s, footage of Agira was used for the TNT, TBS, and Cartoon Network show Cartoon Planet. Agira and Rigger footage was used to depict monster wrestling in the recurring sketch entitled 'Vacation Spots of the Universe' that would feature special Ultraseven locations being advertised by Space Ghost on Cartoon Planet. In the featured location, Rigger's saucer was called the Flying Island.
- Unlike Miclas and Windom, Agira did not appear in Heisei Ultraseven, but the novelization made it clear that Dan/Kazamori had a good reason of keeping it off, especially when distracting Zabangi using his 2 other Capsule Monsters.
- A parody of Agira appears in an episode of Bamboo Blade within the show's Kamen Rider parody, Blade Bravers.
Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Adventure NEO
Agira was separated from Seven during his attempt at stopping the Reionics Battle, resulting it with wandering in a different world. This planet happened to be the same one where Ai Asama and Kanegon were stranded as a result of Alien Guts' kidnapping. When Ai became separated from Kanegon after hitching a ride on Gameron, the two accidentally flew beside Birdon, causing them to fall. Agira stepped in to defend Ai when the boy can't summon his Red King without Kanegon in vicinity, but was quickly defeated and injected with the bird's venom. Vittorio summoned his EX Gomora to kill Birdon, then instructed Ai to save Agira by absorbing it into his Battlenizer, allowing the monster to be healed before the venom gets to its life.
Agira would later became a spare monster for Ai and Kanegon should Red King is unavailable at the moment, as well as occasionally fighting with the former at times. After the fight with Alien Reiblood/EX Zetton ended, Agira returned to Seven and thanked Ai for his help.
Agira's segment was adapted to the story mode for Mega Monster Battle: ULTRA MONSTERS NEO, but as Vittorio arrived late, Agira was rescued by the player's monster and saved into the Battlenizer after that. In fact in the gameplay against Birdon, Agira would also appear as Birdon's supporter despite the irony it presented to the original story. When the player and Vittorio time traveled to Planet Hammer in the past, Agira was returned to Seven earlier for his fight with Armored Darkness.
Mega Monster Battle Ultra Galaxy: The Movie
When the monsters, Dorako, Bemstar, and Saramandora were unleashed by Alien Shaplay to ambush the remaining Ultra Brothers, they were met by surprise by Dan's Capsule Monsters Windom, Miclas, and Agira. Agira fought Dorako. After Rei and Mirai were rescued, Agira tossed Dorako up in the air and destroyed him by stabbing him with his horn. Mega Monster Battle Ultra Galaxy: The Movie
Trivia
- In the original planning, Agira was originally suppose to battle Saramandora.
Ultraman Ginga
Agira's Spark Doll can be seen in episode 7 of Ultraman Ginga, cheering Ginga on and in the second Theater Special.
Despite fighting on the side of good in the Dark Spark War, Agira's Spark Doll was seen in Dark Lugiel's collection.
Ultra Galaxy Fight: The Destined Crossroad
Agira, alongside Ultraseven's other Capsule Monsters, were summoned by him to assist the Ultras battle against various Absolute Soldiers on Planet Babel. They effectively took down numerous of the pawns before returning back to Seven. Ultra Galaxy Fight: The Destined Crossroad
Ultraman Decker
Agira starts off as one of the many Mons Dimension Cards which Ultraman Decker introduced to Kanata alongside Miclas and Windom. Kanata's Resolve At some point later, Kanata starts to use the monster for the first time, deploying it against Telesdon and finishing it off with a single strike before retreating. Subterranean Monster Appears! And Appears! Much later, when GUTS Gryphon tests the Hyper Thorn Laser onto Sphere-Red King, Decker uses the Ultra Dual Sword to summon all three Dimension Card Monsters to spirit Grace away, sparing him from the Sphere Synthetic Monster's destruction. Standing Tall for Someone Special
Miclas, Windom, and Agira were all summoned by a mysterious man who transformed into Ultraman Decker to fight Spheresaurus while the Ultra faced Terraphaser. The three were able to hold off the Sphere monster until Terraphaser knocked Decker down. Agams used an Eleking Dimension Card to utilize its electrical attack on the robot, which successfully defeated the three monsters. Birth of a Dark God
Trivia
- Suit actors: Kenji Kajikawa (ep. 6, 9), Yoshiki Kuwabara (ep. 14)
- According to the official website, Agira's sole purpose (One-Point Relief) of being summoned is to defeat its opponent with one strike, hence doing so consumed a lot of energy needed to materialize the monster before it dissipates into Digital Particles.[2]
- Agira's pose when dematerializing is the same sulking pose from the monster's fight against Imit-Ultraseven. This is an ad-lib on Kajikawa's part, who is a fan of Agira.[3]
- Ultraman Decker marks the first television appearance of Agira since its debut series, Ultraseven, when its other Capsule Kaiju companions had since returned in Heisei media of Ultraman Series, including Windom who also had a robotic copy in Ultraman Z.
Data
- Stats
- Height: Micro ~ 45 m
- Weight: 0 ~ 12,000 t
- Origin: Planet Animal, Nebula M78
- Weakness: Like its fellow Capsule Kaiju teammates, Agira can only materialize for a limited period of time until it returns to its designated capsule or for Seven to retrieve the monster back.
- This is also retained in Ultraman Decker, as Agira disappears once its energy reserve is spent to perform any attacks.
- Powers and Weapons
- Super Speed: Although unseen in any of Agira's appearances, most official sources documented him to be much faster than other equal sized monsters.
- Strike Horn : Agira uses the horn on his head to impale his opponent with great effect. A charged version of this ability can instantly destroy an opponent upon hitting it.
- Extraordinary Jumper: Agira is capable of jumping at high heights if necessary.
- ULTRA MONSTERS
- Continuous Horn Attack : Agira uses its cranial horn to perform continuous attacks.
Despite being mainly used by Ai's Red King, Agira can also access Reionic Burst under Ai Asama's command, doing so charging its body with bright red flame energy. Unfortunately the only time it was shown doing it, Agira joined Gomora and Red King to charge against EX Zetton, but the space dinosaur teleported away as the three monsters discarded this form right away.
Like all monsters and aliens in Mega Monster Battle: ULTRA MONSTERS NEO, Agira can also assume this form if the players' energy gauge reached its maximum point. However, it is treated only as a power-up and not a separate form in overall.

Chibira-kun
Agira appeared multiple times with various roles. One of the roles was to break through Chibira-kun's house and fight Chibira who was pretending to be Son Goku. Another, he and Eleking teamed up to menace Goruba and Gakinko. In yet another, he was the scary monster that tormented the entire cast, but actually a very friendly creature. Chibira-kun
Trivia
- Agira's suit from the original Ultraseven was used for his appearance. It was later modified.
Ultra Fight
Agira reappeared in several episodes in Ultra Fight.
- Agira appeared in episode 82, where he fought Woo on top of a hill. After they rolled down the hill, Agira held the upper hand in the fight at first, but then Woo turned the fight in his favor and beat him so hard, even though Agira did his best to hold hid own, he forced him to retreat.
- In episode 93, Agira went up against Eleking and held the upper hand at first by keeping his distance, grappling him when given the chance, and holding his tail until he took him down numerous times. Their fight went on through nightfall and Agira was about to finish him off when Eleking finally pulled through and turned the tide in his favor and eventually pinned him down and beat him to death.
- In episode 101, Agira was minding his own business until Eleking appeared and began to fight him. While Agira held the upper hand at first, Eleking turned the fight in his favor and eventually defeated him by knocking him down via a judo technique and pulled his legs up until he conceded defeat. And that said defeat was avenged by Ultraseven who defeated Eleking after a short fight.
- Agira reappeared in episode 102, where he fought Alien Icarus and managed to hold his own against the alien for a while, but then Icarus regained that upper hand and beat him down in combat. When Ultraseven showed up, the Kaiju decided to stand back and watch as the ultra fought and defeated the alien by himself.
- In episode 107, Agira showed up to save Ultraseven from Alien Baltan but got knocked out by a couple of blows to the head. After Seven got back up and dueled with Baltan for a while, Agira got back up as well to fight him again and grappling with each other for the majority of their fight, but he proved he was no match for him and got knocked out again, which resulted in Seven finishing off Baltan in a cruel manner.
- Agira reappeared in episode 108 where he confronted Telesdon into fighting him. During that time, Agira held his own against his foe, but in the end, Telesdon gained the upper hand over him. When Ultraseven showed up, he let Agira relax and let him defeat Telesdon by himself.
- In episode 109, Agira walked along with his friend Ultraseven in the mountains and the latter left the former on his own for a while. Unfortunately, he was challenged by Alien Godola, who gave him a hard time during their fight. When the fight ended, Godola left Agira frozen in place and wouldn't be back to normal until Ultraseven returned and easily defeat Godola.
- Agira reappeared in episode 119, where he fought Alien Icarus again, but was easily overpowered even with the alien's condition slowing him down. Near the end of the fight, when Icarus was brought down via Agira's intimidation, the latter tried to jump onto the former, but Icarus rolled away before Agira can do so, resulting in the latter getting knocked out instead, leaving Icarus the winner.
Trivia
- In this series, Agira's appearance is more slender than his usual bulkier appearance, this is most likely due to both the low budget of the series (this flaw also existed with the other monsters that appeared in the series), as well as a sign of the original suit's deterioration with age. Also unlike his original appearance, Agira has several white stripes that covers his body and is given fangs, which he lacked in his original appearance.
