Abyme is a minor antagonist in Fire Emblem Engage. She is the first officer of the Elusian Army faced by the heroes in the game.

Biography

General Abyme is an officer of the Elusian Army who serves these in charge of her country, namely the royal family of Elusia, the Fell Dragon Sombron (the country's god) and the Fell Princess Veyle (Sombron's daughter). She first appears in Chapter 3, where she is tasked with the mission of stealing the Emblem Rings inside the vault of Lythos Castle, the home of Queen Lumera (Sombron's nemesis), so her god could gather all Emblem Rings and use them to get his wish of finding the Emblem of Foundations and confronting it over its decision to leave Sombron behind. During the attack on Lythos Castle, she and Princess Veyle lead the Elusian Army during the assault on the vault. During the battle, Abyme ends up facing Lythos' prince(ess) Alear and Alfred, the crowned prince of the neighbor country (Firene). Alear, Alfred and their servants defeat Abyme, who seemingly dies in battle, but Veyle successfully takes the rings and kills Lumera and Abyme survives to her apparent demise and escapes.

She returns much later as one of the two generals who attack Alear's ship while they go to Elusia by the sea in Chapter 18. However, Abyme's teammate Lindon is convinced by Ivy and Hortensia (Elusia's princesses who are in exile and joined forces with Alear in order to retake their country from Sombron) to defect of Divine Dragon's party, much to Abyme's shock. She is ultimately defeated by the heroes and admits that she got what she deserved.

Trivia

  • Abyme is the only minor Elusian antagonist who is fought twice as a boss in Engage.
