Amalgamuppet

We all got a little twisted then, but some of us...Ricky alluding the the Amalgamuppet.

The Amalgamuppet, also known simply as the Amalgam, is the main antagonist of the 2023 indie survival horror game My Friendly Neighborhood.

It is a massive hybrid of corrupted puppets who were formerly part of the titular puppet show before its cancellation. They went mad from seeing how cruel and miserable the real world is and now reside in the abandoned studio underneath the MFN complex.

It is voiced by Marissa Lenti, Tom Laflin and Emily Fajardo.

Appearance

The Amalgamuppet is a giant puppet haphazardly stitched together from parts of other puppets. It a purple body with red legs, and its left foot has a pair of eyes. Its main head is fluffy and cyan, with sharp teeth, orange gums and a small pair of eyes on the left side of its head; the larger being green while the smaller is reddish-orange. It also has a rectangular light blue head on top, with a red nose and tongue. The second largest head is purple with reddish-range lips and a missing right eye, with its left having a green pupil with neon pink "eyelashes". The third largest head is neon pink with unfocused eyes, purple eyebags, an orange tongue and a large, round orange nose. The smallest head is yellow and rectangular, with a green triangular nose, an orange tuft of hair and a missing left eye.

Its right arm is pink and feathery, with a thinner, torn off light blue arm underneath. Its left arm is striped in orange and green, and spits off into four thinner arms, with three ending in yellow hands while the fourth is torn off. It also has a smaller yellow hand underneath. Finally, it has three tendrils on its back - one blue, one green and one pink. The green tendril ends in yet another yellow hand.

Biography

The Amalgamuppet was once several separate puppets apart of the cast of My Friendly Neighborhood, an educational show aimed at young children. The show was eventually cancelled due to declining ratings, and the set and all of its puppets were left abandoned. The puppets, who had never left the studio before, were immensely curious about the outside world, and with no one around to stop them anymore, turned on a TV to see what other shows have that theirs didn't.

After knowing nothing but kindness and positivity for their whole lives up until then, they were shocked and horrified to learn how violent, depressing and cynical the real world was, with some of them going mad from the revelation. The one who did began living in the abandoned old studio below the new one, naming it "The Unfriendly Neighborhood." Several of the puppets also stitches themselves to each other for reasons unknown, creating the Amalgamuppet.

Several years later, after falling from the radio tower, Gordon O'Brian ends up in the old studio. Ricky the Sock tells him through the phone about his fellow puppets' fall into madness, and informs him of a way out via an elevator, but he'll have to pull a security release lever in the stage to deactivate the building lockdown first. On the way to said lever, after being chased by some of the hostile puppets, the Amalgamuppet will appear on the stage near the lever. After activating it though, the gate to the elevator takes some time to fully lower, and the player has the option to either fight the creature or run away from it while waiting. Like most other enemies, it will attack once the player gets close enough towards it, throwing Gordon to the floor and taking 1/3 of health, which can be a major threat due to its long arms giving it long range. Due to its large amount of health, it's recommended that the player brings plenty of spare ammo if they choose to fight it, as well as the Conclusion, a secret weapon that quickly deals lots of damage. After its health is depleted, it will cry out in pain before collapsing to the floor.

Trivia

  • The Amalgamuppet's name is never mentioned in-game, but is revealed on concept art, which can be seen by moving the camera out-of-bounds in the first room of the abandoned studio. Its other name, the Amalgam, is revealed in the credits.
