Brainiac (JL/MMPR)

Brainiac is one of the main antagonists (alongside Lord Zedd) in the 2017 DC/Boom Studios! crossover comic, Justice League/Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.

He is the respective archenemy of the Justice League and an artificial intelligence whose best known for collecting cities from other worlds while having them destroyed. He seeks knowledge throughout the universe and has teamed up with Zedd into collecting Angel Grove and destroy the Power Rangers' earth.

Personality

Like most versions of his mainstream counterpart, Brainiac is completely emotionless and inhuman, going throughout space collecting each city and then another, only to destroy their respective worlds afterward. Upon having twelfth-level intelligence, Brainiac is extremely calculative and sharp, managing to see through any eventuality, and always plans a way to outsmart the heroes.

Despite teaming up with Zedd, this was under the same mutual perspective that could be of benefit to himself, in which he agreed on a certain interest of collecting Angel Grove for his collection while attempting to destroy the Rangers' earth. He also appears to take interest in other artificial beings with sentience as his interactions with Alpha 5 demonstrates this, though in his view, he would rather keep the latter for his own study and dismissed his empathy as "flawed and simple".

Biography

Brainiac first appeared when Zedd was teleported into his spaceship before gaining awareness of his presence, only to be confronted by the former as he enlarged himself from one of his collected cities to personally meet the one who teleported him. They'd soon have a conversation regarding their mutual motives on how they can align their objective and get rid of their enemies, which led to Brainiac agreeing on Zedd's idea of collecting Angel Grove and destroying their respective Earth from the Rangers' dimension.

He then allowed Zedd to use a number of monsters from his city collection and had them grown giant-sized to attack globally across the world. Upon using this as a distraction, Brainiac hacked into the Watchtower's teleportation systems to sabotage the heroes while having his Brainiac Drones implant a virus onto the Zords to control them while stealing the Rangers' Power Coins and later had them guarded. Brainiac and Zedd then arrived at the Rangers' dimension where Angel Grove had been contained and shrunken, which he'll soon have the planet destroyed with Zedd at his aid. At some point as well, Brainiac shrunk the Command Center with Zordon in it for Zedd to wear as a necklace.

When a few of the League members and the Rangers infiltrated his spaceship's base, he hacked into Cyborg and controlled his entire boy, forcing the latter to fight against his allies against his will, thus making Billy pierce through him in self-defense. However, Brainiac still maintains control over Cyborg's body until Batman rebooted him, though Brainiac sent dozens of his drones to assist Zedd in bringing the Earth to ruins.

Brainiac is then seen with Alpha 5 after Lord Zedd hands him over to his side, intending to study him before destroying the robot. They get into a conversation regarding Alpha's sentience, only to despite his views as "flawed" and "simple", even justify that his actions were to learn and consume knowledge all for himself, something Alpha called him out for as "selfish". Before Superman could save Alpha, Brainiac grabs hold of him while intending to kill him with a shard of Kryptonite, however, his entire body is later slashed to pieces by Zack, Billy, and Trini as they managed to retrieve Angel Grove. Unfortunately, his consciousness still thrives within his Drones and the Zords he controlled.

Brainiac, in one of his drones, tempts Alpha 5 to hand over one of Zedd's growth bombs all the while threatening to destroy him if he further frustrates him, telling him he has no choice which Alpha 5 makes the decision to use the growth bomb to become a giant and fight with the others. Brainiac then takes hold of Cyborg's body once more, intending to pull his whole body apart to see how he functions, though in a twist of events, Billy implanted a virus capable of deleting Brainiac's consciousness, leaving Zedd to settle matters into his own hands before he was defeated.

As the Justice League left off back to their own dimensions while intending to find new homes for the victims of Brainiac's collection, it is shockingly revealed that Brainiac somehow hacked into Alpha 5 near the end of the comic.
