Crackers are technology-based criminals who use their computer-related skills or computer-based inventions to steal valuables, cause system disruptions, spy on their enemies, or frame others for crimes they didn't commit; at the most extreme they are cyberterrorists. They are commonly confused with Hackers, but in reality Hackers are more neutral and skilled at making machines in general do things outside specifications. As such Crackers are Hackers but not always vice-versa.

These are sadly another kind of real-life villains whose work can be found as cybersecurity breachers and traces left by other cyberattackers; they have become especially prevalent since the rise of modern technology.
