Chuckie Sol is a minor antagonist in Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, the first animated film based on Batman: The Animated Series.

He is a mob boss settled in Gotham City who was an enforcer of Salvatore Valestra and worked with Buzz Bronski and the hitman who would later become the Joker. He later becomes the Phantasm's first victim.

He was voiced by the late Dick Miller, who also played Boxy Bennett in Batman: The Animated Series.

History

Before Batman

Chuckie at some point became a capo for Sal Valestra and they ruled Gotham with an iron fist before Batman's crimefighting career. A financier named Carl Beaumont conspired with Valestra to launder money through shell corporations. However, Beaumont had also embezzled their money, making overseas investments without their permission. One night, they visited Carl's house and made threats to pay them back. Carl promised Sal that he'll pay them back in 24 hours, which Chuckie agrees on. However, Carl used the time to escape to Europe, warning his daughter that liquidating his investments would take months. While Beaumont paid back Sol, he was not happy Beaumont skipped town. Neither were Valestra nor Buzz Bronski, another capo. Arthur Reeves, Carl's assistant was desperate for cash so he gave the mob the location of Beaumont. The mob sent the hitman who would later become the Joker to kill Beaumont.

Years after the event, Chuckie managed to form his own crime empire and make counterfeit money. After three years, he held a meeting in his casino where he shared a plan to his men that involved laundering authentic-looking counterfeit money within the casino. However, Batman arrived and beat up Chuckie's men. Chuckie managed to escape Batman and escapes to his car, but he is confronted by a mysterious figure known as the Phantasm. Sol fires at the Phantasm, but the figure disarmed him. A noise of another car distracted the Phantasm long enough for Chuckie to get into his car and escape the Phantasm. He soon tried to run over the Phantasm with his car, but was blinded by the Phantasm's smoke. When it cleared, it was too late and Chuckie crashed into a nearby building where he was killed on impact. People witnessed the accident from another building and also saw Batman nearby, which made them think he was responsible.
