On the ground! Stay on the ground! Nobody make a move! Nobody! Stay down!Chuckles' last words before his death.
Chuckles is a minor antagonist in the 2008 film The Dark Knight, the second installment of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy. He was an accomplice of the Joker in the robbing of Gotham National Bank.
He was portrayed by Matthew O'Neill.
Biography
When they are being briefed on the heist on the way to the bank, Chuckles points out to Grumpy that they have to split it into six shares instead of five, pointing out that the person who planned the heist also counts; he is accosted by Grumpy who implies that he doesn't deserve a share for "sitting out".
Along with Grumpy and "Bozo" (actually the Joker in disguise), he was one of three thugs to take over the bank's lobby. He had just knocked out a security guard with his gun and was ordering people to stay down when he was shot in the back and killed by the Bank Manager.
Trivia
- Due to him being unexpectedly killed by the Bank Manager, it's unknown if Chuckles was onto the backstabbing plan for the heist or if he was supposed to kill one of his fellow thugs. As Grumpy was apparently killed by chance just as he attempted to kill the Joker, maybe Chuckles was supposed to kill Grumpy had he lived and then the Joker would have killed him.
- Chuckles used a MAC-10.
