SCP-1736

Come, He brings enlightenment. He is here to lead us away from the darkness.Phrases used by SCP-1736-2 to draw new members.

SCP-1736, also known as the Voice of the Light, is a hostile organization in the SCP Foundation series. They are a small but formidable cult that is comprised of individuals brainwashed by He-Who-Made-Light. Members seek to engulf the world in the light of their deity by summoning him and purifying the world of He-Who-Made-Dark's influence.

History

The have been some iterations of SCP-1736 that were present all around the world. The first iteration was the Guardians of the Light which was founded by someone who had come across SCP-286 and was possessed by He-Who-Made-Light. Not much is known about this group apart that it was made up of around 35 members, they were located in a ranch outside Arizona and were responsible for the creation of SCP-719 which acted as a doorway for He-Who-Made-Light.

However, the Guardians were almost all killed by one of their own members after he realized the threat posed by the malevolent god. 20 deceased members, included the disillusioned one who had committed suicide following his murders, were discovered by the SCP Foundation, while the other members had been unaccounted for.

A new iteration of the cult was founded by former Foundation employee Dr. Geoff Kennerman, the project head of SCP-791 in Site-15, after he had been exposed to the anomaly. Kennerman would try to gain additional information regarding other related artifacts like SCP-286 and SCP-319. Following this, Kennerman dismissed his entire research team early for the holiday in order to be left alone with SCP-719. He then got hold of Are We Cool Yet?'s SCP-1127-1 and the lab's camera DVD recorder to use them in creating a recording of SCP-719 that could affect viewers.

This recording came to be known as SCP-1736-0 and after creating it Kennerman disappeared completely to form SCP-1736. As the cult rose, the Foundation had slowly figured out its connection with Kennerman after some of of investigation. The O5 Council deemed this one of their biggest failures and have made their priority to recover SCP-1736-0. The Foundation began hunting down the members of the cult, keeping SCP-1736-1 in a special secured chamber devoid of light, while SCP-1736-2 were either kept separately or killed.

Belief and Culture

Overview

Not much is known about SCP-1736 apart that they are zealous cult which had come into contact with He-Who-Made-Light and were subsequently brainwashed by the god into worshipping him and do his bidding. Their beliefs seemed to have been influenced from Christianity, Gnosticism and the New Age movement.

Structure

Although their structure is still unclear, members of SCP-1736 can be divided into two sub-groups: SCP-1736-1 and SCP-1736-2. SCP-1736-1 fill the role of shamans or priests while SCP-1736-2 act as their followers or acolytes. When an instance of SCP-1736-1 died a random SCP-1736-2 instance would emit a short burst of radiation before fulfilling the now vacant role.

Practices

SCP-1736-1 often gave sermons in their deity's voice which appeared as nonsensical to outsiders but were accepted by SCP-1736-2 as literal gospels and integrated into their belief system regardless if they had any contact with SCP-1736-1 or each other. During these "sermons" SCP-1736-1 emitted dangerous amounts of ionizing radiation that should have killed normal humans within a few days, but the present SCP-1736-2 would be unaffected by this. They usually congregated in various parks, street corners, parking lots, shopping malls and other venues where SCP-1736-1 would preach to SCP-1736-2. During the preaching SCP-1736-2 persuaded nearby people into joining their cult with 20% of the normal people becoming new instances of SCP-1736-2 while the rest were mortally afflicted with radiation poisoning.

Goal

The main goal of SCP-1736 is to fulfill their master's desires that is engulfing all of the universe in light, destroy all physical objects and materials that block light and purge all of He-Who-Made-Dark's influence.

Trivia
