Winslow Schott, better known as Toyman, is a minor antagonist in the animated film Superman: Doomsday, being based on DC Comics' character of the same name.

He is a criminal who likes to intimidate children for his own sick pleasures via kidnapping them and attempting murder on them. While he only appears in a handful of scenes, he still has enough impact on the story and is the root cause of the Superman clone's descent into villainy.

He was voiced by John DiMaggio, who also portrayed Jekhide in Mia and the Migoo, Dr. Drakken in Kim Possible, Hannibal McFist in Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja, Brother Blood in Teen Titans, Bender Bending Rodríguez in Futurama, Fung in Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, and Joker in Batman: Under the Red Hood.

Personality

Toyman has a very childlike demeanor, viewing everyone around him as toys and referring to people as "action figures" and "[his] playthings." Toyman is similarly ruthless and sadistic, willing to _target children and taking great joy in tormenting his captives. However, Toyman is somewhat cowardly. While he is happy to go after helpless victims, he panics whenever Superman appears to stop his crimes.

Biography

Toyman appears about halfway into the movie, taking an entire bus full of children hostage and threatening to drop them off a building if the cops don't let him get away with stolen money. The cops retreat while Lois Lane sneakily saves most of the kids, but then Toyman gets alerted to her presence, with her and a little girl still inside the bus. He then throws the bus off the building, but Superman (actually a clone) fortunately saves the bus and defeats Toyman, leaving him to be arrested.

Later on, though, Toyman escaped prison and held several children hostage at a daycare center, and in the process, he murdered 4-year-old Katie Albert. Superman's clone sees the news report and then flies over to the police station to abduct Toyman, dropping him from several hundred feet in the air and killing him, thus avenging Katie.

Trivia

  • According to the film's writers, Toyman's death scene was inspired by a scene where one of Lex Luthor's men drops him from the sky in the comic Lex Luthor: Man of Steel.
    • In said comic, Toyman is outright stated to be a "registered pedophile." In the actual film, while not confirmed as one, fans have pointed out that he definitely gives off some serious molester vibes with his all-around insistent creepiness while attacking vulnerable children for fun, even shouting "my playdates!" when he sees a group of them run away.
