The Vexos are the main antagonists of Bakugan Battle Brawlers: New Vestroia, the second season of the original Bakugan anime series.
Among the best Bakugan "Brawlers" in Vestal, they are the arch-enemies of the Bakugan Resistance and aim to rule over New Vestroia by using captured Bakugan. However, after the Bakugan Resistance defeated them and forced them to leave Vestal, their goal switches from "conquering Vestroia" to "stealing the powers of the Ancient Bakugans to power up a weapon and eradicate the entire Bakugan race with it" and later "destroying the entire universe with an even bigger weapon". The change of the organization's goal and its leader's fall into insanity near the end of the season leads to the team merbers turning on one another and most of the Vexos leaving the team.
The team's original leader was Spectra Phantom, the strongest Brawler of Vestal, but his defeat halfway through the season and betrayal of the organization along with Gus Grav led King Zenoheld and the team's recruiter Prince Hydron to take it over as leader and co leader respectively. Spectra and Gus continued to oppose the Resistance independently until Gus was captured and Spectra set aside his rivalry with Dan and joined the Resistance. Gus would later break out of prison to help Spectra against the Alternative.
History
The members can be seen as selfish and having their own agenda, such as overthrowing the royal family. When the dimension controllers were destroyed, they made the BT system to kill all Bakugan on New Vestroia. They then stole the attribute energies from the Resistance and was about to fire it, but Drago used all his strength to stop the system from going off. As a final act of revenge, Zenoheld plans to use the Alternative to destroy Vestal and Earth. This is too much for Lync and Volt, who both defect, leading Hydron to hunt down and kill them using a “death ball” that sucks them into a deadly portal. Mylene and Shadow attempt to use the same device on Mira and a reformed Spectra, but end up falling victim to it instead.
Fed up with Hydron’s failures, Zenoheld has him tortured and imprisoned. Upon learning that his cellmate is Gus, they start a battle to use their Bakugan to break out. Zenoheld finally launches the Alternative just after Spectra arrives to stop him; the ship is so massive that the process of launching it destroys the castle. He then tries to fire on Spectra and Gus on a nearby moon, but misses, taking a chunk out of the moon. The moon is obliterated by a second shot, forcing Spectra and Gus to evade him until the main 6 brawlers arrive. A reformed Hydron also decides to help them stop his father.
Ultimately, Hydron storms the bridge and captures Zenoheld to “force the captain to go down with the ship”. After the heroes escape, the damage sustained by the Alternative causes it to explode, taking Hydron, Zenoheld, and Professor Clay with it. The last thing Clay sees is a mysterious transmission depicting an army of Bakugan fighting a war on a distant planet, foreshadowing the following season.
