Zac Rubenis, aka "The Sniper", is a supporting antagonist of the Criminal Minds episode "Entropy". He is a contract killer who, as his nickname suggests, murders his victims by shooting them from great distances.
He is portrayed by Mark Semos.
Early life
When Rubenis was seven years old, his parents were killed in a car accident. As an adult, he served in the military as a sniper.
After leaving the military, he went into business for himself as an assassin, specializing in shooting his _targets dead from long ranges. He was affiliated with a loose network of contract killers who did business over the dark web, and who were all affiliated with criminal mastermind Cat Adams.
In Criminal Minds
"_target Rich"
When Giuseppe Montolo, one of the assassins in the network, was arrested by the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU), Rubenis bribed a guard (offscreen) to poison him to prevent him from testifying against his fellow assassins. He then killed the guard (again, offscreen) to tie up loose ends.
"Internal Affairs"
Rubenis is hired by corrupt National Security Agency (NSA) Director Brian Cochran, who is secretly in league with the Libertad drug cartel, to kill Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Agent Bernard Graff, who is getting too close to finding him out. As Graff drives to a meeting with BAU Agent Aaron Hotchner, Rubenis shoots him in the head, and makes the murder look like a suicide.
"Entropy"
The assassin network kidnaps Barry Winslow and holds him prisoner, and Rubenis is tasked with guarding him at the network's safe house. The BAU eventually discovers the location of the safe house, however, and raids it, flanked by a SWAT team. Rubenis grabs a handgun and aims at BAU Agents David Rossi and Jennifer Jareau, but Jareau shoots him dead before he can pull the trigger.
