Wander Over Yonder Wiki:Basic Rules

Shortcut(s):
Simplified ruleset

Welcome to Wander Over Yonder Wiki! We encourage users to familiarize themselves with our rules to have the best possible experience:

Principles for Editing

  • BE BOLD! in updating pages. Go ahead, it's a wiki! Don't discourage others from editing pages to improve them.
  • Be polite and civil to all other users, even during a dispute. This keeps tensions as low as possible.
  • When in doubt, take it to the talk page. If two or more users are disagreeing over an edit, discuss it on the subject's "Talk" page. Be open to understanding the other side and practice mutual respect. Remember, all edits are fair game for good-faith revision by other users.
  • Sign your posts on talk pages using ~~~~ (four tildes), which gets replaced by your username and timestamp when you hit "Save." Do not sign on mainspace articles (episodes, songs, character pages, etc).
  • Assume good faith during disagreements with other editors. Remember that the person on the other side is a thinking, rational being, trying to positively contribute to WOY Wiki— unless, and only unless, you have solid evidence to the contrary. An oppositional opinion is not solid evidence.
  • An edit summary with a transparent explanation is appreciated. Other users need to understand your process, and it also helps you remember what you did if you revisit the page in the future. Try to state what you changed and why in the summary line, located to the left of the "Save" button. If the explanation is too long, elaborate on the subject's talk page.

Conduct For The Community

  • No Profanity is allowed anywhere on Wander Over Yonder Wiki. Please keep language PG while editing namespaces (main/article spaces, categories, templates, etc).
    • Before you say something, ask yourself, "Would it be OK to talk about this with a 13-year-old?" This is the minimum age to have an account on WOY Wiki.
  • No Insults or Harassment towards other users for any reason. Try to accommodate other people's quirks the best you can, while being as polite and straightforward as possible. If somebody does something wrong, explain to them what they did, why it is wrong, and the way to make it right. If you believe somebody is violating the rules, report it to an admin.
    • Do not impersonate other users or real-life people.
    • Do not spread rumors or false information about other users.
    • Do not discuss religion or politics. People of all backgrounds are welcome, but this is not the place for debates. It is OK to mention a religious affiliation on your profile.
    • No trolling (behavior with the expressed purpose of provoking negative reactions).
  • No Slurs or Hate Speech will be permitted. WOY Wiki defines hate speech as aggression towards users on the basis of religion, sexuality, race, gender, etc. Even if you meant something as an edgy, non-malicious joke, it's not appropriate.
  • No Spamming or Flooding on the discussion feed or other users' profiles. WOY Wiki defines spam as posting meaningless or unintelligible statements, links, or images. Posting the exact same thing over and over is flooding.
    • Do not advertise other wikis.
    • Do not advertise your social media outside of your profile.
    • Do not vandalize namespaces.
  • No Pornographic, Suggestive, or Violent Content is allowed. We have a zero-tolerance policy for sexual material, even if it's "censored." Think of the children!
  • No Inappropriate Usernames can be used. If you have a username that contains language violating any of the rules above, you may be indefinitely blocked. Don't worry, you are free to rejoin under a new account with an appropriate username.
  • No Evading Blocks issued by admins. With the exception of being blocked for an inappropriate username, any attempts to evade a block with a new IP address or account will be punished.

Thank you for reading! Go have fun!
