All' hor che l'alba indora le fosche ombre notturne,
all' hor te bella Mora viddi apparite innante
col tuo nero sembiante.
Misero me, qual luce de l'alba mi riluce
s'ancora gl'occhi intorno
hò la notte nel giorno.

Dutch translation

Wanneer de dageraad de donkere nachtschaduwen verguldt,
wanneer ik jou, mooie Mora, zag verschijnen
met je duistere gelaat.
Ellendige, wat een licht van de dageraad
schittert weer in mijn ogen.
Ik heb de nacht in de dag.

English translation

When the dawn gilds the dark night shadows,
when I saw you, beautiful Mora, appear
with your dark face.
Wretched, what a light of dawn
sparkles in my eyes again.
I have the night in the day.
