The feast of The Transfiguration of Our Lord is assigned to August 6 in both Western and Eastern Rites, but recently (after 1970?) Protestant churches have assigned it to the last Sunday of the Season of Epiphany, preceding Ash Wednesday. The Gospel account has been used by Catholic lectionaries for Lent II as well.
