Blow, blow, O gentle wind,
Soft as the whispering of an amorous breath,
When life’s sweet song is heard
From every tuneful bird,
And gladsome music rises unconfined.

Waft, waft, O gentle wind,
As with the tenderness of Love’s own voice;
Zephyrs that murmur low,
As on their way they go,
Sweet lays of lands whereto the sun is kind.

Sigh, sigh, 0 gentle wind,
As one who mourns o’er fair scenes left behind;
Yet in thy sighing sing
Of joys that ever cling
Around those dreams within our hearts enshrined.

Blow, blow, O gentle wind,
And in thy cadences and melodies
Weave thou a touching strain,
With love for thy refrain,
And with love’s dear beseechings intertwined.
