The purpose of this atlas is to show, as far as possible through maps of each event, the changes and historical processes in the lands of the Bible. In the first part of the atlas, the Jewish people were located mainly in the small area of the Holy Land; by the time of the Bar Kokhba Revolt, however, a large part of the people were scattered among the nations. The focal point of the atlas is the Holy Land, and one of our aims was to place it within its proper relation to the surrounding lands most of which played an important part in its history. There are therefore, many maps showing the Holy Land as a part of the Ancient East or the Greco-Roman world as a whole.… (more)
