I had such high hopes for this story. The blurb really drew me in. However, I am left conflicted because it had so much potential but left me more confused than anything else. I felt like something was missing. Many "almost' Secrets and issues were alluded to for both the main characters but the details never were explained which I found frustrating. I will say that Jake had a dirty dirty mouth (especially towards the end). I wanted to like Eve more but unfortunately, I never connected with her.

Phoenix (Flames & Ashes #1) by Carolyn Anthony

Very interesting

First time reading this author. This book dealt with some pretty serious issues that were handled with care. Interesting storyline and characters. It does end on a cliffhanger.
