I would use this book in a 5th grade class and teach them about some of e major bones in their body. This could open up a great discussion about any bones they might have broken in their lives. I could have them cut out a skeleton Andy label the main parts we talked about.

This book could be used as a read aloud for the lower grade levels such as first, second and third grade because they could use additional assistance with labeling and describing the human body. The older grade levels such as fourth and fifth grade could use this book to assist with their literary devices because this book holds many similes and they are more likely to understand the book better than the lower grade levels.

I could also use this book in fifth grade as an intro to the parts and bones in the body. I would have the students read this individually and then talk with neighbors about what they read.… (more)

The Skeleton Inside You can be used for primary grades as a read aloud or an independent read for first, second or third grade. The book can be used as read aloud because there are many things that it can teach. The book takes the complex idea of a skeleton and makes it simple for children to understand. It can be used as an independent read for second and third grade because it is at their reading level and it makes the concept easy enough for them to understand while they are reading. This book can be used to teach the skeleton and identification of the main idea for children in primary. It can be used to teach similes for third grade because there are many similes used to help describe the skeleton. This book is relatable to the student's experiences.… (more)
