I thoroughly enjoyed these stories and some I wished were full books. We have characters from all walks of life and different settings from Cornwall to London and the countryside in between. Many have the feel and humor of a Jane Austen book with an added bonus of characters who come or return to faith in God. I'd be willing to read any of the authors again.

It took me a little while to get into this book, but by the end, I was completely invested in the harrowing and tragic story of two sisters in WWII Warsaw. Each sister struggled, suffered, and found ways to resist the German occupation, but this book, at least, culminated on a hopeful note. I would highly recommend this book to fans of WWII-era historical fiction.

This was a hard book to read, but one that should be read and remembered by everyone. I feel like I’ve been in a vacuum most of my life before I started reading these historical novels and some biographies too about life and death during WWI and WWII.

While reading this book, I had to take many breaks just because it was just hard to read about the true horrors of war. I can’t imagine anyone living through such hardships and horror. The evil in men’s hearts are more than I can bear to think about, yet I see in it today’s news. Oh, that we could learn from history, that history could be taught like this and shown how it really was.

Yes, it’s a 5 star book. I’m glad I read it, yet it will haunt me and still give me hope because of the courage of people to take a stand against evil, and to remember that God cares and is there will us.

Whenever I finish reading one of Amanda Barratt's novels, I must sit back and absorb everything she has written. WWII was a terrible time in world history, yet she writes with an understanding of the people, their heartache, and their zeal. The destruction endured by Warsaw and her people is unfathomable to me. This story is overflowing with hope, resolve, and indomitable spirits. I will be haunted for a while.
