This was a hard book to read, but one that should be read and remembered by everyone. I feel like I’ve been in a vacuum most of my life before I started reading these historical novels and some biographies too about life and death during WWI and WWII.

While reading this book, I had to take many breaks just because it was just hard to read about the true horrors of war. I can’t imagine anyone living through such hardships and horror. The evil in men’s hearts are more than I can bear to think about, yet I see in it today’s news. Oh, that we could learn from history, that history could be taught like this and shown how it really was.

Yes, it’s a 5 star book. I’m glad I read it, yet it will haunt me and still give me hope because of the courage of people to take a stand against evil, and to remember that God cares and is there will us.… (more)
