2nd Lt Trisha O'Malley flies a “Little Bird” stealth helicopter. Her assignment is aboard a Navy carrier supporting hostage removal from Somalia. Navy SEAL Bill Bruce has been undercover in Somalia and organizes the first raid Trisha is involved in. He then stays aboard the vessel to help guide further projects. They each admire the other's skills and are attracted, but each has issues and are heavily career oriented. The story is extremely action packed and violent. Scenes dealing with their family issues are angst filled. Another good volume in the series.… (more)

July 4th, 1988 Frank Adams and 3 friends tried to carjack a BMW only to be confronted by a .357 held by a brand new Secret Service Agent, Beatrice Belfour. His friends run but Beat take him at gunpoint to the SS recruitment center because she sees potential. His life is turned around. The story jumps back and forth between the first 2 years of their relationship and current day where Beat is in an African country, Guinea-Bissau, guarding the US ambassador and Frank is in NY at the UN guarding the President. Then G-B breaks out in fighting in a coup attempt and the Ambassador is a _target. Lots of action and a close look at their relationship and mutual support through both stories. Very good.… (more)

Captain Emily Beale, first woman Black Hawk helicopter pilot in SOAR, the elite fliers who transport Delta and SEAL forces into and out of missions, finds herself pulled from her team and reassigned to the White House to cook for and pilot the First Lady. The First Lady seems to be a _target and Emily is undercover to figure out what is going on. Major Mark Henderson, her SOAR commanding officer, and secret admirer, takes leave to cover her back. He goes undercover as her ex-mercenary playboy boyfriend. There is lots of action, dangerous helicopter attacks, near death experiences and romance. At 29, Emily is a crack pilot, hero of multiple missions, highly intelligent and a deadly personal fighter. I loved the story and the action even though Emily was beyond belief. But what a fun ride!… (more)

Carla Anderson must make it though qualification if she is to become the first woman in Delta, but she is competing against some of the best men the military has to offer including Kyle Reeves. Carla is determined to make it after living through the deaths of both her mother and brother, who were also serving in Special Forces units when they died. While Carla and Kyle go head to head as leaders of their class, they also find that their attraction for each other can't be denied.

_target Engaged is a very good military romance that is well researched and filled with adequately developed characters. However, much of the romance hinges on the physical attraction between the leads, leaving little time for emotional connection. Also, there are so many detailed military operations throughout this book that the romance is overshadowed. Overall, _target Engaged is an action packed military story with a romance that needed more attention.… (more)
