WBCLIB | 35 other reviews | Nov 27, 2024 | Book 36 - Jonathan Cohn - The Mystery of the Shemitah
I love a good conspiracy theory...have watched some ‘wonderful’ David Icke tirades on YouTube...and so many in connection with 9/11 and even UFOs. As with most...they are nonsense....where does this one sit ? Hmmm...
It goes through historical events from Bible times to the present day and talks about the rise and fall of governments, world powers, world economies and more every 7 years or multiples of seven.
My worry with these is always...we humans can always see patterns when there aren’t really ones there...like animals in clouds...for gullible people conspiracy theories are so tempting to believe. The book tries to talk about end times and what is to come....the one thing I did agree with that no matter what calamities are ahead now is the time to look to the Kingdom of God.
Be ready for the return of the Kingdom and as Mark Chapter 13 v33 says, “Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come.”
As a Christian I leave you with this thought
1 Thessalonians 5:20-21 - English Standard Version
“20 Do not despise prophecies, 21 but test everything; hold fast what is good.”
Test the conspiracy theories...look at them...discuss and bring them in to the light. As for the Shemitah....I’ll leave that for you to decide.

Jason-StrangeTimes | 7 other reviews | Oct 9, 2024 | Someone at church recommended this book, and curiosity got the best of me, so I read it. I know the facts that are presented are true, but they don't seem particularly prophetic to me, and even if they are, the message seems to be simply for America to turn back to God. One thing that made this book hard to read was that it was incredibly, and I mean incredibly, repetitious. The whole book could have been summed up in a booklet or pamphlet.½

hobbitprincess | 35 other reviews | Sep 9, 2024 | From the book: “Is there an answer, a guide, a blueprint that reveals what you need to know to survive, to stand, and to prevail in view of what’s coming in the days ahead?
Has it been revealed to us in the appearing of a sign from an ancient mystery playing out in modern times before our eyes?”
Jonathan Cahn does it again. With impeccable research and an amazing ability to bring together ancient mysteries and text and modern-day America, he unfolds history to give us a front row seat into how and what is happening is not a surprise – it was ordained from the foundation of man.
This book serves as a guidebook for us to not just know what to expect, but how to survive and stand and most importantly prevail in what’s coming in the days of the end. As stated in Chapter VI, “The danger of living in an especially darkened culture and of fighting evil, as one must, is to become defined by that against which one is fighting, to let evil become one’s focus, to live in reaction to it, and become its reflection. The righteous must guard against that. They must not be defined by what they stand against but by what they stand for.”
Some may read this book and consider it a stretch to associate ancient Israel to America today. To me it was not a stretch at all. One need only listen to the news for a day to see that we are indeed watching it unfold before our eyes right here in America.

This book will really surprise you as you read about all the coincidences around Washington DC and it's political characters and policies. I feel like this is a must read for everyone! If you believe in God, then you believe in the Bible and the end times. This book lays out many premonitions straight from the Bible that have appeared in our government and the building up of America.
This is actually an historical novel based on the voice of a nation, ancient Israel, and a prophesy of the same judgement to other great nations, such as America, who insist on being defiant against God, ISAIAH 9:10:
"The bricks have fallen
But we will build with dressed stones
The sycamores have been cut down
But we will put cedars in their place."
Published in 2011, the author shows, and proves, the fall of ancient Israel parallels the demise of America, with the exact same signs and warnings from God. Nine harbingers, warnings of judgement, were manifested in Israel before its final fall, and this book shows how they are also appearing here in America.
Our judgement began on September 11, 2001, now known as "9/11". This was our first warning. God is asking us to turn back to Him.
[What happened to the rest of my notes? This is incomplete. Oh well, I guess this is long enough.]

MissysBookshelf | 35 other reviews | Aug 27, 2023 | Cahn, a Messianic Jew, presents his case that the very same pagan gods that tripped up Israel time and again in the Old Testament are currently alive and well in the United States. He shows how Baal, Ashterah (or Ishtar), and Molech manifested themselves over time in such cultures as the Greek and Roman cultures and how they manifest themselves in today's America. While readers may not agree with everything, the book will cause Christians, the intended audience, to reflect on some of the things going on in today's culture.

As a long time student of biblical prophecy, it is unbelievably exciting to watch it comes true, right out of scripture!

AmishTechie | 1 other review | Mar 16, 2021 | Are there things happenings in today’s world that are a judgment? Does an ancient mystery hold the secret to current events, to the future of our nation and the world?
How much time remains?
Is this an ominous warning? A manifestation of hope? The unfolding narrative examines the mysteries of the Gate, the Watchmen, the Mystery Ship, the Word in the Ruins, the Convergence, the Handwriting on the Wall, and much, much more.
Although there is a great deal of repetition, providing sufficient backstory for readers who have not read the earlier book, the narrative meshes together quite well as the revelations continue from where they ended [in “The Harbinger”]. Revealing the mystery of what is yet to come, the narrative opens up new mysteries and leaves readers with concepts that are both intriguing and consequential.
Highly recommended.

jfe16 | Oct 8, 2020 | Does an ancient mystery hold the secret of America’s future? Does the ancient harbinger bring a prophetic message of what is to come?
Are harbingers revealed in ancient Israel . . . nine specific warnings and omens . . . manifesting in America today? Are there nine specific warnings, revealed by The Prophet, that uncover the puzzle and its implications?
An ominous message? A message of hope? The unfolding narrative examines the Biblical perspective of the parallels between ancient Israel and modern-day America and leaves it for the reader to decide. The eschatological theme is both sobering and thought-provoking.

jfe16 | 35 other reviews | Oct 6, 2020 | This was an excellent book. I heard it twice on audiobook so far. It explains the Bible and how it relates to the US today. After reading or hearing this in an audiobook, you will know that the United States is definitely under judgement. I plan on reading again if I can get the study guide for it.

Kevin_Wright | 35 other reviews | Feb 1, 2020 | It is a great book. Cahn uses a fictional story to tell a true story and true mysteries for the reader. I have had a hard time with loss and losing. The book helped me see what I lost was God's original plan for us and myself. Loss and heartache is what we have to endure until we see Him and realize that Christ and the family of God is what we have been looking for and what humanity lost. In the end the mystery of the Oracle and the Jublilees is this.

I felt that reading as a hobby and for personal enlightenment has disappeared. I do not usually “give-up” on books, but already have reached two strikes.

lynngood2 | 4 other reviews | Jul 19, 2019 | Is there a blueprint for today, for the future, based on Biblical events? What parallels exist between the Biblical times of Ahab, Jezebel, and Joram, and today’s leaders? Can the events of the past serve as harbingers for the events of today and the future of America?
Perhaps.
In the pages of this book, author Jonathan Cahn reveals the patterns, the models, for the paradigm.
The examination of Biblical accounts and the implications they offer is one of the strengths of the narrative. Less political condemnation and more thoughtful and prophetical, the narrative leaves readers with much to ponder.
Recommended.

jfe16 | 4 other reviews | Feb 28, 2019 | I would give this book 4 stars on the content of the book. It is definitely a book that engages the reader in prophecies and the links between Biblical events and our world today.
However, what drew the book down for me was the endless repetition of various elements and the fact that the main character seems exceedingly dense at times. I listened to this book and perhaps that could have been the cause, I’m not sure.

sgilbraith | 35 other reviews | Feb 8, 2019 | the ending is good, but the repetition of the book makes it such a drag. Either speed read through the text or listen to the audio. I'm not sure why the "mysteries" were so drawn out, truly the author doesn't think the readers are that thick? Even my young child figured out the "mysteries" before the main character, so part of it is frustrating. You may catch yourself saying, "get on with it already."
