Robert Chafe

This is the stage adaptation of Wayne Johnston’s novel, in which Joseph Smallwood eventually becomes Newfoundland’s first premier and helps bring it into Confederation. I’ve read the book and think that the play distils the book down to its essence. The play itself is four stars, but the book is 3.5 stars for some shocking spelling errors.
