In Harley Quinn: Power Outage, Harley's Coney Island adventures continue. The same writing and artwork team as the first volume in this series provide lots of fun, if occasionally violent, laughs and adventures. I love the vibrant, cartoonish arwork with frequent sexy-cute pinup moments. I love the inventively outrageous situations that Harley gets into. There's a fun section in this volume where Harley teams-up with Power Girl. And a wonderfully meta section where Harley goes to San Diego Comic Con to meet some comics creators. And there's more roller derby action. And all kinds of fun stuff. I'm really enjoying this series.… (more)

Harley Quinn: Hot In The City is a vibrantly drawn, comically written, cartoonish and fun take on one of my favorite comic-book femmes fatale. Harley inherits a building on Coney Island, which is a perfect setting for her. Her building contains a burlesque theater and a famous-murderers wax museum. She transforms one of the floors in her building to an animal shelter.

Hot In The City is drawn in an appealing style, with lots of sexy-cute pinup moments, fun background gags, and generally excellent character design all around, from leading lady Harley, to her supporting cast of eccentric characters. And the writing is sometimes silly, sometimes strange, always fun. I particularly like the portrayal of Harley's flirtatious friendship with Poison Ivy, and also the way in which Harley is a fierce, if frequently violent, defender of her friends.

Oh, and Harley joins a roller derby league as well. That's about as cool as it gets.… (more)
