Gorgeous (gorgeous!) drawings and thought-provoking stories. This book is not supposed to really be about how to be happy, but it connected with me in the right way at the right time and ended up having a huge impact on my mindset. It's about the stories we tell ourselves, the stories we find, our relationship with our own emotions, and how we filter the world through our minds. I couldn't put it down.

Stinky, the swamp monster, has to learn how to share his home with the new kid. It tells a story of friendship and acceptance.

This book would be good for first and second-graders.

I would use this book for emerging/struggling readers and multilingual learners. I would also use this to teach about sharing and friendship.

I feel slightly confused and partially awestruck and a little bit existential after finishing this.
Beautiful little illustrations and strange short stories that are very odd and sometimes satirical. It's honestly a little choppy, and weird, but- it worked. I would read more by Davis.

A monster learns to control his anger and be friendly, and a boy learns to be industrious and set aside his fear. Another hit with our preschooler.
