This book was ok. I might read book 2 and see if I can get in the story a bit more.

I was very anxious to read this book. What first captured my attention was its cover. I love the colors, the eyes, and the rose! I really had high expectations and I was already imagining a review for another 5 stars book.

So it all starts with Pandora, a very good vampire thief, whose reputation among vampires has grown pretty quick. A titan, at her core, she cannot remember why she became a vampire in the first place. She can only remember the feeling of betrayal, of being completely alone. Thus she goes by doing what she can to avoid the people that to capture and/or kill her. All this until the boy from her past, the only boy she ever cared for, came looking for her. His intention is to cure her vampire side and bring her home. But does she want to remember why she left in the first place?

Pandora is one strong teenager. One must admit she’s seen her fair share of killings. The fact that she is still unable to follow her dreams once she is free from her father and the titans may suggest she has something else in store for her destiny. The entire story revolves around the fact that she cannot remember her last day before becoming a vampire and Jax trying to convince her to return. To that, we add a secret ingredient. I would tell you what this wad in my opinion but I would have to spoil…

Loved the story and I truly cannot wait to read book no. 2! It really did keep me up at night and i hope you’ll enjoy it just as much!

Ok, this was amazing! And I wish I could just leave my review at that, because there so many things to talk about when it comes to Book #2 of the “Midnight Ice” series. Let me start by mentioning that I gave “Frost” 4 stars, but “Freeze” cannot be less that a 5 stars book, at least in my opinion.

The story begins where Book 1 ended, with Pandora imprisoned by the very people that raised her and that she was trying to hide from. Most of the plot focuses on her attempts to escape and to find out the reason why she is a danger to everybody.

I love Pandora! The author has preserved her main attributes from “Frost” and added much more. I mean, if in other series we can feel a change in the main character’s personality, here we can really see Pandora evolve. She is the same confident woman, with her need to “asses” her surroundings before taking a definite action. But she has learned from her mistakes. She is not that willing to trust someone again, but at the same time understands the need to rely on others. While trying to escape, she will discover new abilities that come in handy – and that’s awesome!

From the romance perspective, we have a turn that I must admit I was expecting. “Frost” ended with a “What?! How? Why does it have to end like that?” from me! I could not wait to see what’s behind Sam and that is his connection to Pandora. It was worth the wait (though it was not that long for me)! Their relationship is explosive, Sam is patient and gives her time to accommodate with the world and the truths he will unravel. We do see as well the regret and the pain Jax goes through. Half way through the book I thought I knew who the good guys were, but there it goes, spinning me around again!

Some other things to mention: the addition of a new character – Naya (necromancer and goddess!!!) was a breath of fresh air. It adds a lot to the story! Oh, and the writing…. It was amazing as well. The feeling is there, the reader can feel the passion Kaitlyn has put in writing it!

Fabulous! This was a fabulous read, with amazing characters and an amazing turn in the story. Now I’m not sure I want to read the next book because I do not want it to end (but I will read it, because… I love it and I cannot NOT read it!). There are books you really like and books you miss when the story is over. This one falls on the latter category. Enjoy 

Finally (unfortunately) the end of the Midnight Ice series is here! I have spoken about this series and how much I love Kaitlyn Davis’ writing for months now. She is one of my greatest “discoveries” of 2017 and I am so happy and honored to have read and reviewed it completely! She is amazing and her stories are amazing as well. Here are my opinions about “Shatter”.

As opposed to the other three books, “Shatter” has a more strategical approach, if I may say so. It’s like a chess play between Sam and Pandora. They have their own plans and their own allies. One has to identify the other’s weaknesses. So the action is more focused on the characters, on a psychological level, and the bond between Sam, Pandora and Jax. There is a long road ahead in order to establish a relationship based on trust between conduits and titans, but it seems one cannot manage without the other this time. I don’t want to get into that too much, as I don’t want to spoil your fun.

But far more exceptional is the way the author has portrayed Sam. Throughout the series, he has not been your usual negative character. All his actions have a pretty good justification: he wants Pandora back. And what better way to win her heart one more time than to deliver the world to her? Covered in darkness and destroyed but… whatever. He is led by his feelings, by love. I kind of like him. As opposed to Jax, who has betrayed Pandora some time ago, Sam will make the ultimate sacrifice for her.

Speaking of Jax, he is … in the shadows. You know what I mean, if you have read the previous book. But the love he has for Dory is what actually saves the day. Funny thing is that this exact love is what sent him there in the first place.

This series has been the highlight of my year. I loved it so much. All the books are real page turners and each volume end will be so unexpected. And it is the case for “Shatter” as well. I do recommend the series, I do recommend the author.
