I wish for a better ending, and the premise of the plot - marrying your lover's sister to be near to her - is simply silly. But the book gives a flavour of Mexican culture and to structure the chapters around recipes is an original idea.

Evening book club, mine: August 25th

wow, I really thought I would enjoy this book and I didn't like it. at all. I'm really enjoy the romance of relationships and less of the elicit sex scenes. This one just focused too much on it. Plus, the writing style was not one I enjoyed and the exaggeration of making it sound more like "passed on" folk stories (crying so much you have to dry the floor, the stairs, and the bed?!?) made me want to roll my eyes instead of keep reading.

There were some parts of this book I really loved, and given that I couldn't put it down (I read it in two days), I guess it must have been pretty good. Until the end. I hated the ending. I wanted to give it 3 1/2 stars, but there are no half-stars, so I'll go with four since I couldn't put it down most of the way through the book.

I really like the way recipes were woven throughout the book, and how the stories were told surrounding the telling of the recipe. Very unique set-up.
