I really liked this book. Sure, there was remodeling of the house involved (a criticism by another reviewer), but it was part of the story.
It isn't a spooky ghost story - the ghosts are loved ones, but the mystery and family in the novel made it an enjoyable read.
Will admit I skipped/skimmed the sex stuff; I wanted the story. Luckily, the blow by blow doesn't overtake the book, it's mostly about a mystery, romance and family... with a few ghosts thrown in for entertainment.
Already bought book #2, The Ghost Upstairs.… (more)
Book #3 in the Kane Family Ghost series. it was okay, but not as good as the first two. Not quite sure why - maybe just not as much of a mystery to solve or it was more about the romance than the ghost story.
I'll give #4 a shot to see if it grabs me as much as the first two.
I enjoyed the story and the characters, but there was a great deal of sex that was neither erotic nor necessary to further the plot. One of the better plot points was about sex education, and that was well done. I enjoyed the theme of needing to accept the faults of one's parents, I liked the acceptance of psychic phenomena, and the balance of good and nasty characters.
