Halifax, The First 250 Years is an interesting condensed history of Nova Scotia’s capital. Well researched and generously illustrated, it manages in one volume to take you through the founding and growth of the Warden of the North, educating and entertaining the reader at the same time.
I found much within the pages of this book that surprised me, as the authors have obviously dug deep to find the ‘nitty gritty’ regarding facts of the city’s history and they are not squeamish when it comes to naming names.
A collaboration between, Judith Fingard, Janet Guildford and David Sutherland, Halifax, The First 250 Years is a history of the people of Halifax as well as the city itself and within its pages we meet many of the colourful characters whose lives and work made Halifax the vibrant metropolis it is today.
