Alex Finlay has done it again. I didn’t figure this one out until a few pages before the reveal. The amount of rabbit holes that lead nowhere was infuriating but in a good way. The several POVs right off the bat was a little bit of a struggle to make sense of until I became more familiar with the characters. I felt like I needed a board with red yarn to connect all of the dots and keep people straight. Overall, this was a good thriller and well done for needing to follow so many characters and backstories. I only wish for more details- I want to know more about the different experiences of the students before it got to this point. If you want to check out this book, it will be released on May 6, 2025!… (more)

Twisty, suspenseful, and hooked me from the start. I enjoyed trying to figure out how the past and present crimes tied together. This was one of those books that I couldn’t wait to get back to reading when real life forced me to put it down! Borrowed from the library.

IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO ME was an intense thriller. It touched on some heavy subjects and situations that added layers of depth to this twisty story.

Five years ago, Ryan witnessed his high school girlfriend being kidnapped just before he was knocked unconscious. Suspicion still fell on Ryan, and though he was never charged, his life was turned upside down. Now in law school, Ryan seems to have moved on, but thoughts of Alison continue to haunt him. Then her car is found at the bottom of a lake with two dead bodies inside, along with a cryptic note from Alison…

This book hooked me from the tense opening scene and didn’t let go! It was very entertaining and moved along at a breakneck speed. There is an intriguing mix of characters who at first don’t seem connected, but when the puzzle pieces come together, it’s so satisfying. I can’t say much more about the plot for fear of giving away spoilers, so you’ll just need to read it. Recommended to fans of compelling characters, crime thrillers, and Alex Finlay’s previous books!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a digital copy of this book. Thoughts are my own.

This was another entertaining thriller from Alex Finlay. There are a lot of characters to keep track of but none of them are truly memorable. It was easy and quick read and fans of Alex Finlay will enjoy it. Thanks to NetGalley for the digital ARC.
