I think this is more 3 3/4 stars for me. I usually don't do the whole sci-fi genre but was pleasantly surprised with this book. I did enjoy it but I feel like I was missing Ms. Frank from the book. I didn't fully feel like I was reading a Jacquelyn Frank book. Let me reinforce though I will continue the series cause I did overall story and characters. Plus I want to see where she thakes the other characters in the book because I have some of my own ideas and hopes where she leads them.

This was an interesting book, in that I really liked the story, but was sooooo turned off by most of the characters. Here you have such powerful beings, but they all seemed so completely helpless.

The book is action-packed from beginning to end. That prologue?! What a FANTASTIC way to begin this book... I was taken in immediately. I sort of knew it couldn't stay that way, but this was just one of the most intriguing beginnings ever.

Leah is KICK ASS... really loved this character and would love to read her story. Jasmine is also pretty damn cool and I really liked her a lot. Adam seemed cool, but didn't make a lasting impression, although he rated much higher than the other males in this series.

The others.... I mean, what a bunch of wusses. So much hand-wringing and so little action.

Ruth was a CRAZY ass biatch, but very well done. Her character was so over-the-top fantastic, that I loved her. Don't get me wrong, I wanted to see her destroyed, but she was a great character. I was pretty damn happy with how Nico died... that was satisfying. I'm glad these two were FINALLY dealt with, it just dragged on too freaking long.

I have to say I was completely disappointed with Noah and Damien's books and am pretty disgusted with how these characters were made to be so milquetoast in those books. Adam was a rush of adrenaline that was really needed to get me back on-board.

You know, I've read all the books in this series. It would've gotten a 4 (or 5) had I not been expecting something else. In this series, my expectation was that the villian in the previous books would have been dealt with. I was expecting this humongous showdown between the protagonist and the villian. I was expecting Noah to remain truly alpha. I think my biggest disappointment was with Syreena, although not a major player in this book, she nonetheless aggravated me the most. I still love this series, the characters and this book, but my expectation got in the way.

If reviewing objectively, this was an exciting book. The characters are well written and the world built by this author is fun to read about. Isabella the first female character introduced in this series is AWESOME and I love her most. I still recommend this series to others; but again those expectations dampened by excitment some.
