I appreciate quilt books that take the time to revive, and explore new ways to use traditional quilt blocks. The Country Crown is a beautiful star block, and this book shows how it can be used to make an endless variety of quilt patterns. In this book Linda and Deborah’s quilts are skillfully made. Their instructions are clear, and I appreciate their attention to the needs of longarm quilters. I absolutely relate to their section on adding borders! I would recommend this book to anyone who is at an advanced intermediate level. Paper piecing, flying geese, and small cuts of fabric are laborious. It takes a lot of time and patience to piece together a quilt, and this book has long lists of cutting instructions. Some shortcuts for cutting, piecing, and using precuts would have made these patterns more accessible. As it is, this book is great for the motivated quilter who is looking to make an intricate quilt without complex instructions.… (more)
