This was a quick and easy read. Then again, books that make me laugh out loud tend to be the ones I don't ever want to put down, and that was the case with this one.

Justin Halpern's writing style is very easy for me to read. His stories flow smoothly and you always know there's going to be a great payoff in the end. Only this time, instead of his dad getting all the laughs, Justin had plenty of stories in which he was the comic superhero. But if you're a fan of Sh!t My Dad Says, you won't be disappointed. His dad makes some appearances in this book as well, and if you buy the Kindle version, there are video bonuses at the end of the book so you can watch some videos of him with his dad.

This book comes about because Justin tells his dad he's bought his girlfriend an engagement ring. His dad makes a comment about how he knew Justin's mom was the one, and that gets Justin thinking. He tells readers about the girls he's known and dated. We learn about all the crazy things he's said or done on dates, and find out how he knows what he knows about women.

If you've ever dated, you can relate. If you're a guy, you'll probably empathize. If you're a woman, you'll maybe feel a little differently about some of the goofy things guys have said to you. Yes, they really are clueless! Justin is proof!

I love everything about this book -- from the way it's organized to the hysterical content to the unfolding relationship between father and son. I love the author's writing style, so casual and conversational.

If you need something lighthearted & easy to read in a couple if settings, this is your book! But keep in mind, it's filled with curse words. The charming old man was not edited, which makes the stories within that much funnier!

Road trip audiobook!

But I only made it a little halfway before arriving home . . . so then it became . . .

Grocery store audiobook!

This was a pleasant diversion on the drive and while I waited for COVID and flu shots at HyVee and did my weekly shopping.

Justin Halpern's dad says funny things. Sometimes they're just strung out like the Twitter feed from which they originated, sometimes they're fleshed out into a four- to eight-page story that digs a little deeper into the author's life.

Short and funny.

And it reminds me of one of the funniest things I heard a dad say. During college, the father of my roommate, Jeff, had just met his girlfriend and at the first opportunity he had to take his son aside he said, "Jeff, Eleanor is a great girl. The kind I want you to marry . . . but not now."
