Granted, this only makes sense as the first half of the duology.
My goodness, this is epic in every sense of the word.

This is an amazing story. I don't usually engage in one this lengthy, but all the reviews that said it's "mesmerizing" and a "page turner" were right! I really like the way he folded in all the technology without it being some boring multi-page description. I also really like that even though this is set in the far future, the characters are still "people" like us.
I wish I could give it a 4.75, though. After all that layering in of multiple stories and making us love the characters, the ending seemed a bit "and they all lived happily ever after." A few questions left unanswered would have been nice.
The descriptions of St Libra environment were convincing. I had no problem suspending disbelief. In fact, I feel I've been there.
Highly recommend, even if sci-fi is not usually your thing.
Thanks for a great read, Mr. Hamilton.
