It was a good book. Little slow to start but once it got going I truly enjoyed it. I will be reading the next in the series soon.

Fun, quick, and smart read. Both Red and Chloe experienced heart-breaking relationships in the past. Together they learn how to adjust, breathe and enjoy life and love once again.

Red is as perfect a guy as a woman can expect and Chloe definitely deserves him.

A tad more graphic than I was expecting. But all good.

Representation: Black characters
Trigger warnings: Physical injury, hospitalisation, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, racism discussed
Score: Five out of ten.

Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute by Talia Hibbert could have been better.

It starts with Bradley and Celine, with Bradley is a football player who claims to manage his OCD well while Celine is more academic-oriented. Celine goes to camp when she finds Bradley and predictably start a relationship.

The pacing is enough to keep the book going at less than 340 pages, and the relationship developed slowly for a short timeframe, but some scenes feel slower than others. However, removing slow scenes would help.

The writing style is somewhat accessible but contains complex language and jargon such as 'heterosexist,' but the dialogue is realistic.

The characters have some likability value, depth and development but not relatability value, yet more would help.

Bradley and Celine develop eventually by starting a relationship, even though they were initially grating, meaning that Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute follows an enemies to lovers trope.

Bradley's OCD plays a small role in his life, but Hibbert should have made his OCD play a critical role instead of a minor one.

The conclusion is heartwarming.

C+ (Okay).

A woman who believes she's bad at relationships falls in love.

This book corrects all the issues I had with the first book in the series. But I still like the first book better, anyway. This one just wasn't imaginative enough. Nothing jumped out to hook me.
