The author asks, "What is the best way to interpret Quakerism in the modern world?"

Hobart asks what is the central core of Quakerism that will speak to us in the present (1950s). He concludes that a modern and inclusive Christianity is the core, with the inner Christ, the power to know God and to act, to be found in everyone. This is all good, but uninspired.
