Short biography
Heavily influenced by her creative mom who was an elementary school teacher, Jennifer grew up loving art and picture books in Los Angeles, California. Life and work took Jennifer to London and NYC, and today you'll find Jennifer with her family in San Diego, writing, illustrating, and designing. Her most important title is "Mom" to her 4-year-old son and baby daughter, and together they love baking, gardening, collecting rocks and sticks. Jennifer loves collecting old things, painting in her studio, floating in the ocean, and learning astrophotography. She also loves National Parks, NYC, comedy shows and cheesy rom-coms, ghost stories that aren't too scary, Christian Robinson, Jon Klassen, Carson Ellis, Marla Frazee, Rebecca Green, antique pottery, Scandinavian furniture, museums, gnocci, sushi, fresh flowers, and other eclectic things.

Jennifer received her BFA in illustration with honors at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. During college, she helped assist public elementary school teachers by reading picture books to small groups of kids struggling with English and speech. After college, Jennifer pursued her first job in publishing as a designer at Harcourt Trade Publishers in San Diego, then Disney Hyperion in New York, followed by creating award-winning work for branding and digital studios as a visual designer and Creative Director back in California. Today, Jennifer is following her heart and is writing and illustrating picture books, as well as running her own design studio designing for the coolest clients such as trade publishers and The San Diego Air & Space Museum. Jen is also a member of #SCBWI and #12x12PB and a 2022 #PBParty Illustration Showcase finalist.
