Paladin of the Radiant Order, Arthur Davorin is in exile. After accidentally betraying his order by falling in love with and trusting the wrong person, Arthur is travelling the lands, blessing the lands and the people as penance. When Shae approaches him about travelling together, Arthur agrees thinking it will be straightforward. But nothing is straightforward when dealing with demons.
This was okay. It was kind of bland. The world building was pretty thin and the plot was sketchy but the characters were alright for the most part. Shae was a bit whiny but that was kind of understandable with all his trauma.
My biggest complaint was Shae's whole overpowered necromancer schtick. I had no problem with him being overpowered - but it was irritating when he kept saying he needed to be defending and then proceeding to whip out massive spells that killed everything. He might have needed human touch but he didn't need defending.
It was an easy enough read though with an alright story, if not a particularly memorable one. 2 stars.… (more)
