I love a lot of silly picture books, but somehow not this one. The art looked as if drawn by a middle-school student, childish instead of childlike. And the story is just a bit too simple imo. But I can absolutely see why others love it, so try it for yourself if you like twist endings to simple stories.
(Btw, I think it might work better as a board book.)
Tiny Spoons Vs. Little Forks is a graphic novel-style picture book that takes readers through the fictional life of their kitchen cutlery. There are some funny moments and in the end, both the spoon and fork recognize the importance of a baby having both. I think this book is geared towards primary readers. I think this could be a book I could have in my class to introduce graphic novels, however, I do not love this book.
Tiny Spoon Vs. Little Fork is an adorable picture book / graphic novel following the adventures of two fearless characters : Spoon and Fork. Both want to be Baby’s favorite tool, but only one can remain ! It is extremely funny, and will be loved by children and parents alike. Text and art are really great ! I loved the misadventures of the two characters, this book made me smile, and I was wondering what will happen next. I love how friendship and teamwork were at the end the most important thing, Spoon and Fork uniting their incredible skills to feed Baby.… (more)
This was a laugh riot. It’s both picture book and graphic novel for the very youngest. We have a tiny spoon and a little fork whose job is to feed the baby. But which ones better? Fork is sure they’re better, but no spoon thinks they’re better, so it becomes a battle of who the baby thinks is better. The book is very tongue-in-cheek but also relatable and funny. As someone with a baby niece who is has just started using little spoons and little forks maybe I like this too much, but I don’t care. This was fun and would be fun for story time, or for naptime, or just for mealtime.… (more)
