Nice intro to networking. Topics are geared to Windoz, not to much on unix/Linux os.

A bit old, but should still be useful

I love the Dummies series--over the years they've made plain things that are made way too complicated in manuals--with lots of little tricks you can treasure. And it was nice to have this conveniently light and small-sized reference. But we've moved on way past Office 4 by now--and when I make excuses like "well, it might still be useful, I'm sure a lot of the information still holds"--it's time to let go.

From my point of view, as someone who wanted to learn the basics of networking in general, I found bits of it interesting and useful, but many parts were pitched at too advanced a level for 'dummies'. I thought there was too much information on details, like configuring specific operating systems, and not enough on general concepts. Incidentally, I had previously considered the non-'All-in-One' version of the book, but it appeared to be the same as this one with some parts omitted (not always the case with Dummies books).… (more)
